Workshop 2: Body Percussion in Wind Orchestras

Second International Workshop | Budapest (HU)

The second international workshop of the EU-CODE (European Co-Creation In Diversity) project was successfully held from February 5th to 8th, 2026, at the prestigious Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. The event brought together delegations from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia (Rome), the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and the ACe20 association.

Overview & Objectives

The core of this workshop was the exploration and integration of body percussion as an innovative expressive medium within wind orchestras. Participants explored various techniques to seamlessly integrate rhythmic body patterns with traditional wind instruments.

The sessions emphasized choreographic and visual elements to enhance the overall performance experience. Through this collaborative effort, participants gained practical skills that contribute to the development of a distinct European musical language in the wind orchestra context.

The workshop featured a series of specialized sessions led by international experts:

  • John Cage – Works for Percussion: A masterclass on the complete percussion works of John Cage, led by the renowned Hungarian percussionist Aurél Holló.
